Bolton's Spicy Chicken and Fish

A few weeks ago, Dan came home from work and we both needed to get out and about. So, like true Southerners, we went to a little beauty called Bolton's Spicy Chicken and Fish.

Please notice how small Bolton's Spicy Chicken and Fish is :)

I learned a few things from this adventure:

1) When they say spicy - they mean spicy.

The front door of the house - made - into - a -restaurant

2) Even if I ask for mild - it will still be more spicy than I can actually handle.

Inside there is a small window to order through, but there is also this pink door with a sign saying "please knock when ready to order" :)

3) If I order a sandwich - it will be a chicken wing between two pieces of white bread and three pickles. :)

4) Dan can put down MEDIUM spicy with no problem - which means he has taste buds of steel. Handsome AND taste buds of steel?! I am one lucky girl. :)

I am not sure we will be back, mostly because I am a spicy coward, but it was a fun experience!

Spring Comes To Nashville

Last Friday night Dan got home from work and exclaimed that he couldn't be inside that evening - it was too beautiful out. So, we went exploring to Centennial Park aka Athens - the home of the Parthenon replica in Nashville. I know what you must be thinking - a Parthenon replica? In Nashville, TN? I know. It doesn't make sense to us either - but it was fun to see!

Look!! Pretty flowers at the park = springtime!!
I struggled to get the whole thing in one photo - it was huge! :)

I have no idea how similar it is to the original - but the little details were fun!

Cute Dan getting his photographer on.
Usual behavior from both of us - seen here and below.

I finally got a Pinterest hairdo to work! It only took me a half hour and almost ever bobby pin I own - so of course I had to show it off. :)
We were at Centennial Park just as twilight was setting in - it was a such beautiful park and evening.

Pretty Nashville. I think we will be returning to Centennial Park soon.

Dan Turns the BIG 3-0

Hi again!
Sorry it has been ages since I updated the blog; but gallivanting to Utah and back, actually working more than 20 hours last week, and getting a taste of spring in TN has kept me from this little blog.

BUT here I am - what would be more important than sharing with you all what we did for Dan's b-day?? Definitely not cleaning the apartment, which is what I should really be doing. :)

Dan elected to use his birthday funds to help purchase his bike trainer.  He loves it and it will be so great next winter when he can't go out for long bike rides!

I have yet to try it - and as I don't have those awesome bike shoes that attach to the pedal, I probably won't be using it.

Anyways, after asking Dan what he wanted for dinner (breakfast in the form of scrambled eggs and blueberry muffins) and what treat he wanted (he didn't care), this is what we consumed!

This dinner looks a little sad on our big plates - but it was yummy!

Sorry it is side-ways, I am still figuring this blog-ness out. But yay 30! (Also, Dan would tell you that I did the 3 backwards at first - how did I even do that?? :))

The very cute and happy birthday boy!!

Contemplating his birthday wish.

Oh, how I love my thirty year old. He is the dearest and my very best friend. So grateful to be married to my Danny. Love him. And love you all!!

"Nature Church" - Shelby Park

Every Sunday - after we get out of 9 am Church (we are loving getting out by noon!!) we like to go to what Dan calls "Nature Church". Which essentially means we go to one of Nashville's many parks and wander around and enjoy being outside.

Last Sunday we went to Shelby park. This park was HUGE - with tons of paths and baseball fields. But, all we did was find a bench in the sun and read for a while. It was a little breezy, but very fun.

The sun was soo bright!

Dan's model shot. Shockingly - or not shockingly - this happens often. :)

Yay for Nature Church and sunshine!!

Nashville Flea Market

Hi team! I have considered doing a blog for a while and am finally getting around to it! Please excuse the lack of cuteness and organization going on here; turns out it will take me several YEARS before I am fluent in CSS (the strange computer language one must speak before they can make their blog super cute).  So, as the blog progresses, hopefully so will my CSS! And off we go...

Last Saturday I had the day off. Miracle! (I never have Sat off!) So we decided to go check out the Nashville Flea Market and we were not disappointed.  It was located at the Nashville Fair Grounds and it felt good to be in the sun together.

Please ignore random family. Or don't - they really probably are super nice.

As per usual, Dan and I were attracted to completely different things:

Dan:
(You can't tell but he is looking at a refurbished chest that would be pretty sweet as an ottoman - I wish I had a better photo of it.) (Oh and he is winking - watch out.) :)

Me:

Basically, if it was teal and pretty - I wanted it. :)

Yep - more teal. But, seriously - aren't these bottles beautiful?!

We seriously considered taking home this "B". But, it was just so large (probably a foot and a half tall) and really - we had no place for it.

So out of all the cool stuff we could have made our own - what did we actually buy? Candy. Kettle corn popcorn. And Girl Scout Cookies. A little sad - it's true, but if you were faced with a box of Milk Dud's for only 33 cents you would have bought it too! :)

And to round off our day of larks - we finally took advantage of living in the Hispanic ghetto of Nashville and went to this beauty just down the road from us:

It was such a small building! You can walk up to the window and order or do drive-thru on the other side.

Their dining option. :) It was a little chilly for us so we opted to take ours home.
We probably won't be back but it was fun to try Don Juan's excellent cuisine!
